Outfits & Gear for Outdoorsy Girl Fall

It’s cozy outdoorsy girl fall and I’m here for all the gear and sweater weather. It’s been a hot-hot-hot (and oddly humid) summer in Southern California, so I’m super excited to pull my fleeces and beanies out of my closet.

I’m excited for the changing of the leaves and planning for winter trips! Every winter we go to Sedona, the Grand Canyon—and I’m also hoping to add a Yosemite trip.

I love a good fall/winter wardrobe, so I scoured the trends and found some epically good deals and also some well-worth it splurges if you’re looking to wander the chill mountain air or crisp desert trails in style.

Enjoy! <3

Hoodies, Jackets & Fleeces, Oh My!

Amazon: Fleece of Your Dreams

Doesn’t this look like a Free People, Patagonia or Cotopaxi dupe? I’m seriously in love and immediately added to cart. Fall is the season of fleeces and pullovers for me. They’re great when it’s not too cold outside, like a brisk hike to see the changing leaves or a stroll to your favorite coffee shop. I love the cute pocket and button details.

ON SALE: Cropped Hoodie

How cute is this cropped hoodie from Free People? This would be perfect for chilly days heading to the gym or hiking up a mountain in the sunshine this fall. The best part is: IT’S ON SALE! So, get it while you can. I could also totally see me wearing this as I sip on hot buttered rum while watching YouTube videos about my next big trip, just sayin’.

ON SALE: Checkered Sherpa

Checkers are in and I can’t stop wanting all the checkered things. During the spring and summer I wore a checkered vest and this fall and winter—I want this checkered sherpa from Backcountry. Another gem that’s on sale!

REI: North Face Down Jacket

Time to head to the mountains for winter and this down jacket from North Face is so cute! It’s definitely a splurge but this jacket will last you forever. I could see me walking Yosemite in the snow with this jacket and it just makes me want to plan a trip. If a jacket inspires you, then definitely go for it.

Amazon: Fleece Shacket

I own this shacket and adore it so much! I also get compliments on it all the time. Another Amazon find for the win! I wore this to Joshua Tree during the winter and was so cozy and warm, but it also felt comfy enough to move around in. A good “shacket” should be in everyones closet this fall/winter season.

On Sale: Stoic Base Layers

Both the top and bottom of this base layer set by Stoic is on sale! A good base layer is a must when hitting winter trails. I swore by my base layers when sitting, waiting for Firefall in Yosemite earlier this year. I love layering during winter months. I wore my base layers under a lighter waterproof jacket, making it easier to take off if I got hot hiking around.

Pants. Joggers. Leggings.

On Sale: Nike Jogger

I love a good jogger, especially a light cozy version. I really like these Nike Joggers. They’re perfect for that fall camping trip—it’s dusk and your standing around the campfire making s’mores and enjoying a drink—oh, just me? Because that’s exactly what I’ll be doing in these.

Shoes. Shoes. Shoes

Backcountry: Hoka Hiking Shoes

Is it just me or is a Hoka trail running show evolving into a boot super cute? I love the chunky platform look and the colors of these shoes, too!

Keds: Waterproof Boots

I always get compliments on these shoes. They’re minimal, slim fit and waterproof! I also love the idea of Keds as an ankle boot. Super sleek.

Travel & Outdoorsy Gear

Free People: Outdoorsy Weekender

I’m obsessed with these weekenders. I don’t need them, but I want them (both!). Definitely a splurge, but also look so perfect for your next roadtrip or staycation. The only thing I wish these had is a spot to store shoes—then they’d be perfect.

Amazon: Portable Campfire

Whether you’re staying at a free campsite you found along the river without a fire ring or you’re setting the mood in your backyard, this portable campfire by Radiate is a genius idea. I love the easy clean up (and easy to store) option of this portable campfire.

Amazon: Jetboil Camping and Backpacking Stove

When you’re out camping in those chilly temps, the last thing you want to do is have to wait awhile for your water to join. Well with this compact camping stove you’ll boil your water in minutes. My friend has this stove and I just remember us being in Yosemite, tired and cold, and this stove had me eating my chicken and rice camping meal so quick! I knew immediately i needed a Jetboil.

Amazon: Outdoor Lights

I love my outdoor camping lights. They really set the mood for camping and offer a fun, cozy touch to your campsite! Amazon has a lot of really great options for battery powered hanging lights. These are the ones I have, but I like this one because it comes with the hanging loops and it can also double has a lantern when the string lights are in the carrying case.

Amazon: Crampons

If you don’t own a pair of crampons for walking along icy trails—you’re missing out. I have this pair of crampons and I have never felt more confident hiking the steep trails of Bryce Canyon mid-winter than when wearing these. Each icy step felt solid. There are a lot of expensive name brand options, but for me—someone who lives in Southern California and rarely interacts with snow—these come in handy to just toss in my hiking backpack (for just in case), don’t break the bank, and are actually pretty good quality. I bought size medium for my women’s size 8 hiking boot. They go on easily, and it’s so nice to have the option of taking them on and off so you can still wear your favorite hiking boot.
